Alison Maunder
I am a naturopath, herbalist and researcher and have been in clinical practice at Northern Beaches Health & Fertility (formerly Sydney Health & Fertility) since 2014. My qualifications are in naturopathy, herbal medicine, and reproductive health.
My passion for naturopathy began growing up on a farm in country NSW with a naturally healthy and active lifestyle along with good nutrition and herbal medicine being a part of life. My interest in all aspects of food has grown stronger over the years and when my children were old enough, I began studying naturopathy formally. My passion for learning has continued to grow and I’ve continued to study, as well as, to teach naturopathy and nutrition students.
While providing natural medicine healthcare for the whole family, I have a special interest in women’s reproductive health, fertility, and pregnancy. My approach to treating clients is comprehensive with the ultimate goal of educating each person to take control of their own health. Treatment will include nutrition and lifestyle guidance and may also include nutritional supplementation, homeopathic or flower essences, and herbal medicine based on personal requirements.
Through my studies at the University of Sydney in Reproductive Health & Human Genetics, I seek to integrate the latest Western medical knowledge of the reproductive systems with naturopathic knowledge and philosophy to provide clients with effective support for reproductive issues. Currently, I’m a Ph.D. candidate at the NICM Health Research Institute at Western Sydney University investigating the role of naturopathy in the management of women with diminished ovarian reserve. While this condition increases with advancing age, it is becoming more prevalent in younger women.
Outside of the clinic, I enjoy spending time with my family and being active. I regularly swim and bushwalk and am a member of Manly Surf Lifesaving Club and the Balmoral Beach Club.
